Thorncliffe Park is a Good Place to Live... Work... Shop
At Millwood and Overlea
At the corner of Millwood Road and Overlea Boulevard stands a large concrete monument, marking the entrance to the community to the east.

This is the entrance to Thorncliffe Park, as the area is commonly known. Thorncliffe Park became part of Leaside in 1954, but then Leaside was merged into East York in 1967. In 1993, East York decided to rename the entire area the "East York Centre" and the Thorncliffe Mall as the "East York Town Centre" for some confounded reason. Nice of them to retain a shout-out to the Thorncliffe Residential Community.
Now go east on Overlea a few yards (this works best on foot; please cross at the lights, it's a dangerous intersection) and take a look at the monument from the rear.
A little more to the left...

My memory is often unreliable, but I think this is what it used to say on the front side too.
